Performance Now Theatre Company Auditions for The Sound of Music

Performance Now Theatre Company
announces auditions for
Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Classic Broadway Musical
The Sound of Music

Auditions will be held on:
Friday, September 17th from 4:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
Saturday, September 18th from 3:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
Callbacks will be held on Sunday, September 19th, from 6-10pm

Auditions will be held at:
Little Theatre Dance Studio (Please do not call Little Theatre for audition info!)

All roles are available. Cast is 30-35 people to fill out this large ensemble cast with many featured roles.

PREPARE:
16-32 bars from a traditional non-contemporary musical of your choice.
1-minute monologue (only if you are auditioning for the role of Maria)
Please bring sheet music; an accompanist will be provided. No taped music or a cappella allowed.

BRING:
Headshot and resume and list of conflicts for weekends between December 5th and January 31st.

REHEARSALS:
Rehearsals are at either of the two following locations:
Little Theatre Dance Studio, 2670 E. County Line Road, Highlands Ranch, CO 80126
Little Theatre Dance Studio, 9142 W. Ken Caryl Ave., Littleton, CO 80127

First cast meeting and read-thru will be Saturday, Nov. 20, 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
First rehearsal will be Saturday, Dec. 4
Rehearsals will be Saturdays 1:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. and Sundays 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.,
with a break for the holidays and New Years.

Tech Week (Rehearsals) Feb. 7th – 10th, 6:00-10:00 p.m. at Lakewood Cultural Center

PERFORMANCES:
Performances are held at the Lakewood Cultural Center (Wadsworth & Alameda)

SHOW SYNOPSIS
The final collaboration between Rodgers & Hammerstein was destined to become the world’s most beloved musical. When a postulant proves too high-spirited for the religious life, she is dispatched to serve as governess for the seven children of a widowed naval Captain.

ROLES TO BE CAST
There are (13) principal roles to be cast:
Maria Rainer (Female – Age Range: late 20’s – late 30’s) – a Postulant at Nonnberg Abbey
Captain Von Trapp (Male – Age Range: 30’s – 40’s) – a widowed naval captain who has seven children
The Mother Abbess (Female – Age Range: 50’s-60’s) – a Mother Abbess.
Elsa Schraeder, the Baroness (Female – Age Range: late 20’s – late 30’s) – fiancé of Captain Von Trapp
Max Detweiler (Male – Age Range: 40’s – 50’s) – great friend, wonderful manager, lousy houseguest
Rolf Gruber (Male – Age Range: 17) – a young suitor
The Von Trapp Children (children should be able to play the ages listed next to the character names):
Liesl – age 16
Friedrich – age 14
Louisa – age 13
Kurt – age 10
Brigitta – age 9
Marta – age 7
Gretl– age 5

There are (17-22) Supporting/Featured/Ensemble Roles to be cast – an assortment of neighbors of Captain von Trapp, Nazi soldiers, nuns, novices, postulants, and contestants at the Festival Concert. A variety of men and women or all ages will be needed.

All actors will receive a $150 stipend.

The Candlelight Dinner Playhouse is pleased to announce auditions for THE WILL ROGERS FOLLIES:

ADULT AUDITIONS & CALLBACKS
Adult auditions will be held Monday, August 30, 2010 from noon to 7pm at the Candlelight Dinner Playhouse. Adult callbacks will be held Sunday, September 5, 2010 at 6pm. All auditions are by appointment only and can be made by calling the Box Office at 970-744-3747 beginning August 17.

Looking for strong singer/dancers, all ethnic backgrounds for roles as Ziegfeld Follies girls including “Z’s favorite” and the male quartet; one male – age 35 – 60, singer/mover for the role of Clem Rogers; one female, age 30 – 50, strong singer/mover for the role of Betty Blake. NOTE: Adult roles are NOT double cast. Also looking for trick ropers, jugglers and magicians to perform in the show and also coach the actors on roping. The role of Will Rogers has been cast. CHILD AUDITIONS & CALLBACKS
Child auditions will be held Tuesday, August 31, 2010 from 4pm to 7pm at the Candlelight Dinner Playhouse. Callbacks for children will be held at the end of the day at 7pm. All auditions are by appointment only and can be made by calling the Box Office at 970-744-3747.

Looking for three children, ages 7 – 15, singer/mover for roles as the Rogers Children. Roles may be double cast and girls may be asked to play boys. All child roles are open. All roles are non-equity. All roles are paid.

GENERAL INFORMATION
Actors should bring headshot and resume and prepare 16-32 bars of a musical theater piece in the style of the show. NO pop or rock selections. An accompanist will be provided. Please bring sheet music in the appropriate key. No a capella or recorded music. Dance call will be held at callbacks. Rehearsals will begin approximately October 8, 2010 with rehearsal times to be determined. THE WILL ROGERS FOLLIES (A Life In Revue) will open October 29, 2010 and run through January 16, 2011. Performances are Thursday through Saturday nights and Sunday matinees. Additional performances may be added.
