The Full Monty

Down-on-their-luck steelworkers bare it all at the SaGāJi Theatre.

The Fine Arts Center Theatre Company
presents The Full Monty, the funny, heartwarming, and revealing musical-comedy about unemployed steelworkers, which opens at the SaGāJi Theatre on Jan. 23 and runs through Feb. 15.

The show features live music, spirited lyrics and a cast of memorable characters dealing with economic hardship. Seeing how much their wives enjoy watching male strippers during a girls’ night out, unemployed steelworkers in Buffalo, N.Y., come up with a bold way to make some quick cash. For one night only, they will strip at a local club and go ‘the full monty’ … British slang for taking it all off.

In the process, the men find renewed self-esteem, the importance of friendship and the ability to have fun.

The Fine Arts Center will offer a “Girls Night Out” special for the Thursday evening performances. Each female ticket holder will receive a free drink at the FAC’s Deco Lounge.

“Considering the economic downturn we’re all suffering through, this show couldn’t be more relevant,” said Director Alan Osburn. “It tackles the issue of unemployment and turns a depressing state of affairs into a toe-tapping, funny, heartwarming tale of true friendship. It’s a great night of theatre.
